Having moved into my very own house (hooray!), I’m now all for collecting cute and pretty displays for my bakedwares. Well, maybe not just bakewares, as I’ve recently been eyeing more than just cake stands. There’s been a beautiful rainbow display of sauce bottles that marched into my pantry, a variety of different glass vases, and I’ve been seen prowling through every kitchenware store there is in my hunt for the perfect placemats on my gorgeous new white dining table that I love so very much.
Given my love for baking, buying a cake stand has long been on my list. However, as this household was also home to two rather active cats, I was constantly worried that the cake stands would topple and instead of a beautiful, delicious looking cake on my counter, I’d end up with a waterfall of glass shards on my floor. So the hunt for the perfect cake stand was long and arduous as it had to be pretty, and yet sturdy enough to take a nudge or two from a well-meaning cat who shouldn’t be on the counter.
As luck would have it, I actually found the perfect cake stand at Big W. None of the fancy homeware stores actually stocked anything that was quite sturdy enough! But it didn’t come with a cake dome, so when I was given a voucher to Kitchenware Superstore, my only thought was : Ooh, cake domes! Disclaimer: The voucher was given to me by their PR.
It wasn’t hard to choose cake domes from Kitchenware Superstore, I must admit. They only had one! Thankfully, it was one that would fit my new cake stand and in a matter of minutes, I had the Royal Doulton Donna Hay 30cm Cake Dome winging its way to me.
Having never purchase from Kitchenware Superstore before, I was pleased to see that the website presented me with no glitches, the transactions were smooth and shipping was crazy fast! Shipping was a flat rate of $9.95 (or free if you purchase things above $150) and I assure you that flat rate shipping is the best. It really just means more guilt-free shopping for me, and more kitchen things to stock my house with. Hehe.
The cake dome came, well packed in a huge box filled with packing peanuts. I’m not sure what I was expecting as it turned out taller than I had imagined in my head which is a good thing as this means I can now put those gorgeous tall iced cakes on my cake stand without fear of ruining the top. Huzzah! The first time I whipped it out was for my housewarming, and yes, I know, I know, a Pandan chiffon cake hardly needs such a fancy cake dome, but I couldn’t help it, I had to show the beauty off. As you can probably guess, I’m quite pleased with my shiny cake dome. I’m not a fan of Donna Hay normally, but I guess I will make an exception for her cake dome.
What do you think?
Anyways, I’m back shopping at Kitchenware Superstore as I went into House and General Trader for their Boxing Day Sale and got nothing, so I’m back to browsing Kitchenware Superstore to look for bargains. They are currently having a 10% sale off everything, coupon code BOXINGDAY. Go have a peek and maybe pick something up for yourself!
I was provided with a $70 gift voucher by Kitchenware Superstore. All other purchases made was financed by my jolly credit card. All opinions are my own.
